Brilliant news yesterday, that Amanda Knox had finally won her appeal and was released after 4 years in prison, for something she did not do.

Four years in prison just because Amanda Knox was not italian nor did she conform to the picture of how virtuous young women should be, that the prosecution and the italian media had.

‘’ Knox has been variously portrayed by prosecutors and the media as a sex-obsessed temptress, a witch and a "she-devil ’’

The prosecution was a good example of how prejudice works, they were so fixated on getting the ‘’witch’’ Amanda Knox, they didn’t bother about the trivial details like evidence.

Or collecting DNA correctly without cross contaminating the evidence, as they seemed to do, according to the newspapers, they apparently even stopped the local coroner from seeing the body for hours.

Because of this, they couldn’t establish the exact time of death, so probably lost the opportunity to map the complexities of the murder and make links which might have led them to find the murderer.

They seemed to decide it was Amanda, without looking for any evidence; detective work was abandoned in favour of conjecture, their misogyny was a huge barrier to any investigation.

Four years later, the sentences have been overturned and Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito have been released.

Sadly as well as ruining Amanda Knox’s life, the prosecution’s lack of proper detective work has also let down the family of Meredith Kercher, who are no closer to knowing the truth
